Not far from Forchheim, at the foot of the Walberla, lies Wiesenthau Castle.

📜 History
First mentioned in records in 1379. The present Renaissance building was largely constructed in the 16th century, after the castle had been destroyed in the Peasants’ War.
🏗 Architecture
A three-winged complex; the four corner towers are the most striking features.

Nowadays, the castle can be explored through its culinary offerings and events. The complex houses a typical Franconian beer garden serving the usual specialities, as well as an Austrian restaurant where you can enjoy Viennese cuisine and a magnificent view of the castle and the surrounding countryside.
